TSD Community,
With great honor, Telluride School District announces the 2024 Lorrie Gardner Memorial Scholarship. As most of you know, Lorrie Gardner was a first-grade teacher at Telluride Elementary School for nearly two decades. Her devotion to teaching young children culminated in the fundamentals of reading and writing but truly began with honoring each individual. Her deep passion for teaching was to empower each young soul, to embody the importance of service to others, to instill in each student a love of learning, and to foster a community of kindness, empathy, and compassion. The scholarship in her memory will be awarded to a graduating senior who, in their own unique way, embodies these values and demonstrates a commitment to pursue their dreams in order to bring light to the world.
Rex Lybrand worked with Lexie and Jordan to initiate this process and create the below essay prompts inspiring generations to come.
We miss Lorrie dearly, and hope we can start this scholarship off with strong support in her honor!
