Special Education

At Telluride Schools, we believe that every student has the potential to succeed, and our Special Education Program is designed to ensure that students with disabilities receive the support and services they need. Our program aligns with Colorado's standards for special education, providing individualized education plans, support, and accommodations.

Program Highlights:

  • Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Tailored to each student's unique needs, our IEPs outline specific goals, services, and accommodations.

  • Comprehensive Support Services: Including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, counseling, and more.

  • Collaboration with Families: Family involvement is vital to the success of our program. We engage parents in the development and monitoring of IEPs.

  • Inclusion: Students are educated in the least restrictive environment, with access to general education classes whenever possible.

Key Components:

  • Assessment and Identification: Comprehensive reviews ensure we identify and address each student's needs.

  • Individualized Support: Our team of trained special education teachers and therapists work closely with students to provide personalized support.

  • Transition Services: We assist students in planning and preparing for post-secondary life, including vocational training and employment opportunities.

  • Ongoing Collaboration: Regular collaboration between general education teachers, exceptional education staff, families, and other professionals ensures a cohesive approach.

Telluride Schools is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every student can thrive. We are proud to follow Colorado's dedication to excellence in special education, honoring diversity, and fostering success for all.
