Progress Report
As of June 20th, 2025, the District has taken the following efforts to ensure accessibility:
New Website Platform: We have launched a new website through ParentSquare SmartSites during the 2023-2024 school year to create an improved, accessible website that helps alert us of any inaccessible content.
Hiring and Training: Hiring individuals with accessibility skills and providing training to the necessary personnel involved in managing, updating, and creating content for the District’s websites and applications.
IT Inventory: We have created an IT inventory of all software accessed by students, staff, and parents so that it can be assessed, and any accessibility issues can be addressed appropriately.
PDF Accessibility: All recent PDFs on the website have been updated to be accessible, and we have provided a process for users to request accommodation for archived content.
Support and Feedback: We provide contact information and support for accessibility feedback and accommodation requests.
Compliance Plan
Under HB 21-1110, the district is actively developing an accessibility plan. For updates on the accessibility plan and quarterly progress reports, please visit this webpage on the Telluride School District website.
Training
The Telluride School District currently requires training for individuals involved in implementing, managing, and updating websites and applications. Additionally, the district is developing annual training for all current and new staff to ensure a clear understanding of the regulations outlined in HB 21-1110. This training will help ensure that all staff members who create content for students, parents, staff, and the community are compliant with these regulations.
Accessibility Maturity and Why We Are at This Stage
The Telluride School District is in the Launch phase because the importance of accessibility has only recently come to the forefront. While our staff has always been committed to providing an inclusive environment and there have been significant accessibility efforts, there is a need for more targeted education and awareness regarding digital accessibility. With this newfound focus, we have encountered some roadblocks, primarily related to time constraints and personnel dedicated to this initiative.
Despite these challenges, the District is committed to overcoming these obstacles and has identified individuals to lead this initiative. Moving forward, we are implementing a quarterly meeting schedule to actively develop and implement our accessibility plan. Our goal is to ensure that all information on our websites and applications is accessible to everyone, reflecting our dedication to inclusivity and compliance with the latest standards and regulations.
